Hot Weather Guidance for Parents
Junior Tennis Camps
At NDLTC, the safety and wellbeing of all children attending our camps is our priority. During periods of warm or hot weather, we take additional precautions to help children stay safe, hydrated, and comfortable while enjoying tennis activities.
What the Club Provides
We have:
• Regular supervised water breaks
• Shaded rest areas
• Access to indoor cooling space
• Coaches trained to monitor for signs of overheating
• Flexible activity plans allowing sessions to be adapted in hot conditions
Where necessary, we may reduce activity intensity, increase breaks, move activities indoors, or shorten outdoor play periods.
What We Ask Parents to Provide
Please ensure your child arrives with:
• A clearly labelled water bottle
• A hat or cap
• Sunscreen already applied before camp
• Additional sunscreen if appropriate
• Lightweight sports clothing suitable for warm weather
We also encourage children to arrive well hydrated before the session begins.
If the Weather Becomes Very Hot
Our coaching team monitors conditions throughout the day. If temperatures become excessively high, we may:
• Modify activities
• Increase indoor breaks
• Adjust camp timings
• Suspend outdoor play if required for safety
Any significant changes will be communicated to parents as soon as possible.
Medical or Additional Needs
Please let us know in advance if your child has any medical condition or additional need that may affect hydration, heat tolerance, or participation in hot weather.
Thank you for helping us keep all children safe, healthy, and able to enjoy their tennis throughout the summer.
