We run a range of adult tennis drop-in sessions at the club, which are open to any member, as well as a number of club tournaments throughout the year. Our programme is as follows:
Adult Social Tennis
There are four regular social tennis sessions a week, where members can just turn up and play in a very friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The sessions are held at every week throughout the year at the following times:
- Wednesday morning: 10.00am – 12.00 noon (U3A and senior members)
- Wednesday evening: 6.30pm – 9.30pm, Courts 1, 2, 3, 4
- Friday morning: 10.00am – 12.00 noon, Courts 3,4
- Friday evening: 7.00pm – 9.30pm, Courts 1, 2 intermediate/advanced, Court 3 dedicated to new starters
- Sunday morning: 9.00am – 1.00pm, Courts 1,2, 3,4
Social tennis is for Adult club members and is a doubles format only. Sets are first to six games (with a short deuce ‘sudden death’ deciding point if members are waiting) . If you want to play singles, book a court at another time using the MyCourts booking system. Juniors may join social tennis if invited to do so by a coach.
Prospective members can attend one social session to decide whether they want to join the club. Social tennis sessions are not for guests of members (unless they are visiting as prospective members).
Club Championship
Our annual Club Championship runs between May to September every year. The tournament includes ladies and mens singles, doubles and mixed doubles championships.
The Championship winners are all featured on our boards in the clubhouse. If you are a new member wishing to compete in the Championship, we can always help with finding you a partner for doubles.
We also run a Plate Championship which is for people who are knocked out in the early stages of the regular Championship. The Plate runs concurrently with the Club Championship.
One-day tournaments
There are a number of tournaments throughout the year, such as the American tournaments and Men’s and Women’s doubles tournaments. These are really good fun and a great opportunity to meet and socialise with other players, over a BBQ and a few drinks.
External competitions
We compete in both the men’s and women’s Surrey and Southwark Leagues in singles and doubles. You can check on our current league standings here.
